Special Release Wrights Vintage Methode Traditionnelle Magnums 2009

An absolutely stunning wine. This wine defines the care, attention and craftsmanship that is dedicated to making Methode Traditionnelle.Vintage Methode Magnum Release

Just released to the market. The Wrights Vintage is a celebration of each vintage. A tribute to the elements of nature and showcasing the success and challenges of each vintage. The wine is particularly special to Wrights, as it is the first pick of grapes from the Wrights Terrace vineyard and the first release of our Vintage Methode. Released only in magnums to pay tribute to two young kiwis who had a dream and made it happen. Shear hard work and determination were the formula for this wine and the story behind it.

Wrights Vintage is a unique blend of grapes. An elegant, seductive wine with a crisp palate, fine bead and creamy textured finish, with notes of chocolate and mint. Aged in barrel and has undergone malolactic fermentation. Bottle fermented and aged on yeast lees for three years. The bottles are individually numbered. Only 330 bottles in existence. Numbers from 110 are currently available for purchase. Customers are welcome to nominate their number of preference and, where possible, this will be supplied.

Beautifully presented in a Wrights gift box. A collectors item, or a gift with a difference. The perfect gift for someone who thought they had everything. Better than a pair of socks.

The Natural Wine Company - New Wine Range

The Natural Wine Company was officially launched on 14th July 2012 at Gisborne's Grey Bush Scenic Reserve. A small but very significant reminder of the Kahikatea forest.  Once covering the Poverty Bay flats, before it was cleared to create pastoral land.  The reserve also provides a home to a diverse range of native birds. The Gisborne Herald covered the launch, the above photo was taken by Gisborne Herald - Nicola Wright and Grant Vincent, Chairman of Gisborne Forest and Bird.

Nicola Wright Promoting The Natural Wine Company WinesWhat is The Natural Wine Company?  It takes the best about everything in New Zealand and bottles it.  Sourcing grapes grown from various regions to showcase the best New Zealand has to offer.  The wines are taste explosions and express the variety and area from which the grapes are grown.  Available on first release are two wines a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and Gisborne Chardonnay Viognier 2012 and then later in the year we released a Cabernet Sauvignon. The only wine available at present in this series is our Sauvignon Blanc.

For the 2013 vintage we are planning to release a Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot/Cabernet. Join our newsletter to we can keep you posted with these releases.

These wines are now available direct from us through our 'Online Orders' web page.

Clean, green New Zealand at its very best.  A big statement – Let's back it up:

(1) The wines are made from grapes grown using natural farming methods, applying organic and bio-dynamic methods.  The wine is low allergen – minimal additives.

(2) Good for the environment – The conservation message.  In releasing this wine brand, we have formed a partnership with the Forest & Bird Society.  Kiwis love and are proud of their natural country.  Forest & Bird gives “nature a voice” - Perfect.

(3) The packaging is clean. modern and a little quirky.  The lone footprint on the front reminds us all to tread gently.  The Natural Wine Company font resembles drift wood.  What a talking point at the dinner table.
The Natural Wine Company Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012
The Natural Wine Company represents what New Zealand is all about – kiwi ingenuity. hard work and honesty.  Be in quick!!

These wines can be purchased direct from us at our online order page.

Our Sauvignon Blanc 2012 is a clean, green,  zesty style.  Intense notes of feijoa and blackcurrant greet you.  Flavours of green herb, lime and passionate fruit surge through the wine like a waterfall.

The following wines are still available from us - Wrights Reserve Gewurztraminer, Wrights Gewurztraminer, Wrights Reserve Chardonnay, Wrights Chardonnay, Vintage Methode Magnums, Entity Methode Traditionnelle 2010 and TNWC Sauvignon Blanc.

Country Calendar, Saturday 25th June, TV1, 7pm

We were featured on national television, on the 25th June. Katherine Edmond and her crew filmed our Methode Traditionnelle wine making process, sustainable practices and family. A great chance to learn more about our philosophy and find out more about us. If you missed the show, it can ve viewed at TV1 NZ web site on demand. Here is the web link to view - Country Calendar Online Video Link.

Preservative Free Wine

The 2011 vintage saw us look at making NZ's first preservative free wine to the market. Our customers often ask us for this, so we thought we would deliver.

We recently ran the final wine trial for this preservative free wine. However were not happy with the finished product. So sorry to say, we will not be releasing a preservative free wine this year. However we will not give up on this and will try again with a different approach in mind for the 2013 vintage.

Wrights Reserve Gewurztraminer 2011

This is the wine review of our Wrights Reserve Gewurztraminer 2011 by John Bartlett, Director and Owner of New Zealand Wine Directory, 9th November 2011.

“Tonight Glenys and I opened the bottle of Wrights 2011 Reserve Gewurztraminer and what a stunner it is! Wrights are certified organic so grow their grapes & handcraft their wines using ethical and environmentally friendly, biodynamic techniques. The 2011 Gewurtraminer was made in two batches with the second left on the vines and picked later producing some botrytised fruit. This was barrel-aged for 6 months then blended together to result in this amazing Gertz!

On pouring it showed bright & deep gold in colour, and on the nose “Intoxicating & heady” said Glenys. There is rose petal, Turkish delight & a hint of burnt toffee leading into intense marmalade and stone fruit, ginger and more toffee on the palate with great length & moreish finish.

This really is a complex and textured wine which is drinking beautifully even at such an early age but with a little more time I’d expect that it can only get better. Although we tasted (i.e. drank) this without food it has such depth and concentration that it would be a perfect match for Thai or other similar spicy foods.”

Country Calendar and Alison Gofton

March was a busy month for us, with Country Calendar filming us for this season series, visiting us for three days. Great opportunity for us and it was great people to work with. I personnally think our kids will be the star of the show.

Alison Gofton and her crew, visited us, as we are lucky to be picked to be included in her upcoming cook book in August 2011 release. Nicola - now known as 'Top Chef', cooked up a storm in our 9 by 3 metre shack we live in at present, with our two kids. They will be publishing some of Nicola's recipes with our Olive OIl, Verjuice and Wine. A fun day was had, even though the weather was not great. Again our kids will probably feature in the book more than us.

The Gisborne Herald on the 14th February visited our vineyard and did a story on the seasons first pick of grapes - our verjuice.

This story an be viewed on You Tube at Video Clip Gisborne Herald - 2011 Seasons First Pick Grapes. Or just visit Gisborne Herald at www.gisborneherald.co.nz

We have been busy working on new outlets around the country for our customers. Check out our outlets area for an updated list of our current stores around the country. Don't forget though, you can still order direct from us.
